Not many areas in Walt Disney World take you to a different time period quite like Hollywood Boulevard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. From the music to the sights, everything there takes you out of a theme park in Florida and into the Golden Age of Hollywood. On the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard sits The Hollywood Brown Derby, a restaurant inspired by the Hollywood landmarks that were the Brown Derby restaurants. The replica in Hollywood Studios offers contemporary American cuisine and some Brown Derby classics to help you feel like you are in the real deal. Not only is the food reminiscent of the old chain, but the walls are covered with various caricatures of celebrities to re-create a tradition that the original restaurant once had. The high-end atmosphere is sure to make you feel like you could be one of those familiar faces on the wall. Don’t let the glitz and glamor get to your head though, we have some food we need to eat! The Hollywood Brown Derby is known worldwide for their famous Cobb Salad. The mix of spit-roasted turkey, bacon, egg, tomatoes, blue cheese, and classic dressing was created by the original Hollywood Brown Derby’s owner, Robert Cobb, all the way back in the 1930s. The salad is also available at The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge, which is right outside the restaurant and only requires a walk-up. Other entrées offered inside the restaurant include Filet Mignon, Sustainable Salmon Coulibiac, Free-Range Chicken Coq au Vin, Grilled Pork, Tomato Risotto, Seafood Cioppino, Braised Short Rib, and Duck à l’Orange. There are also some enhancements you can add to your order, and we recommend the Spoon Bread that comes with lavender-honey butter. If you want the full Brown Derby experience, then the Cobb Salad is definitely the way to go. This signature creation delighted guests in the original restaurant, and now it helps take guests in Disney’s Hollywood Studios to a whole other period in time. If you don’t want this experience to end, then there is always dessert! Another Brown Derby classic comes on the dessert menu, and it is their delicious Grapefruit Cake. It is made with vanilla sponge cake, grapefruit syrup, and cream cheese icing. This cake is perfect if you are looking to mix it up from other desserts you can find in Walt Disney World. If grapefruit is not your thing, then the 50th Anniversary Celebration has brought another unique dessert to the Hollywood Brown Derby. The 50th Celebration Baked Alaska may not have been introduced in the 1930s, but it is still a dessert that will be sure to enhance your Brown Derby experience. The layers of strawberry-basil sorbet, vanilla gelato, and sponge cake covered with toasted meringue and caramelized brownie bites will leave you wanting to come back for more. This signature dining experience is truly one of the best you can find in any Disney park. It is perfect for those who love walking down Hollywood Boulevard and taking in all the sights and sounds. All of that is encapsulated near the end of that road, and inside The Hollywood Brown Derby.
